The 7PLY Project is back for the 12th time and is hosted by the French Consulate of Thessaloniki. Skateboard art, street photography, installations and more will  be displayed and an over all view on the urban culture of today! The festival is presented by Propaganda Rollin co. the first greek skateboard company and is part of the parallel events of the 52nd DIMITRIA Festival #52Δ. Ιt is also supported by the State Museum of Contemporary Art and the Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki and sponsored by DC Shoes and Volcom and by Monster Energy.

The 7Ply Project is the Contemporary Urban Culture Festival, a celebration of youth, a meeting platform for artists and friends of street culture and music, an opportunity for dialogue and exchange of ideas, skate tricks and expression with up to date means shaped by the contemporary urban culture.

7PLY Project 2017 is taking place in various locations from 1 until 7 of October. The exhibition and workshops are hosted by the Institut Francais de Thessalonique and participation in all activities is FREE and open to everyone interested!.

This year we kick off on October 1 at Panorama Skatepark with the first ever skateboard contest taking place in the Panorama Skatepark. Registrations, warm up and graffiti action will start at 12:00 and the contest will start at 17:00. Skaters will compete in jam sessions of two skaters in each heat and the 3 winners will share the prize purse of 300€. During the contest Farrier and Jimmy Yo, two of our favorite local  young guns, will take over the decks and set the tunes for the day!

The grand opening of the group exhibition of the 7Ply project will take place on Monday October 2 at 20:00 until 23:00 at the French Institute and together with the launch of the exhibition some surprises will be there waiting with music and drinks we will all meet and greet with the 7PLy project community. The skateboard art exhibition is the cornerstone of the festival and the participating artists are the ones that carry the flame of innovation by bringing their ideas into life and presenting every time new and unique, reborn skateboards. The photo exhibition and other installations are also the elements that make the exhibition reflecting perfectly the contemporary urban art of today in the best way possible.

The 7Ply project is part of the parallel schedule of the 52nd Dimitria Festival and on Tuesday October 3 we will host two tours starting at 20:00 as part of the ART NIGHT event that is taking place in Museums and Galleries of the city and will be operating until 23:00.

In terms of greek and french friendship together with a sense of promoting global ideals of language and culture the french consulate together with the 7Ply project have invited two special guests.

The photographer Kevin Metallier who is a resident of Biarritz, the european California, has a long cv of global travels and collaborations.

The designer Julien Deniau who resides in Barcelona, the european Meca of skateboarding, who keeps his roots in skateboarding and has presented a big list of works in photography, design and his special skateboard art projects.

Both of them will participate in the group exhibition of the 7Ply project with a special section of their work and during the week of the festival each one will do a workshop open to everyone who want to attend dedicated to street photography and design.

The skateboard art and design workshop of Julien Deniau will happen on Tuesday 3/10.

The street photography workshop of Kevin Metallier will take place on Wednesday 4/10.

The Pro Dancers Studio will present a street dance workshop on Thursday 5/10 introducing the new street dance and hip hop styles of dance to those who will attend.

The famous trap and edm duo “Filter Effect” will present an educational workshop on Friday 6/10 presenting the tools and software that serve as the new instruments for the production of contemporary electronic music.

On Saturday October 7 we will be hosting an Open Air event at the Park of France. The Park of France is located on Vas. Georgiou str. across the city hall and in front of the 1st High School of Thessaloniki. This event will be celebration of our culture with skateboard surprises and a stage take over by ΛΟCO MUSIK starting at 17:30 until 22:00.

The 7Ply Project features a rich schedule of exhibition tours, workshops, skate, graffiti performance, skate competition and more events taking palace at the French Consulate of Thessaloniki, Panorama Skatepark, Park of France and Stoa Music bar.
